 Women's Suffrage 

This movement was when women began fighting for their right to vote.

  • The first few states that granted women the right to vote were the states to the West, starting with Wyoming.

  • During the early 1900s, women began protesting, using tactics like hunger strikes and White House Pickets.

  • World War I slowed suffragists' campaigns, but also helped as women pointed out that their help during the war was just  as admirable as mens'

 

On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was finally ratified, giving women the right to vote.
