JACKSON POLLOCK

Paul Jackson Pollock was born January 28, 1912.

Paul Pollock was born in Wyoming, and was the youngest of five sons. Pollock's father moved for jobs, and Pollock grew up in Arizona and California. While living in California, Pollock was expelled from his second art high school. He followed his older brother to live in New York City, and they both studied at the Art Students League. During the Great Depression Pollock worked for the WPA Federal Art Project. Pollock struggled with alcoholism, and recent historians believe that he was also biopolar.

Pollock died at the young age of 44, in an alcohol-related car crash.
